Environmental Stewardship
The supplier’s
operations will be setup in such way that they meet the legal requirements and
Sensata’s special requirements regarding the protection of the
environment. ISO 14000 certification
is strongly recommended for all suppliers.
All suppliers must
agree that they have not used or introduced after May 15, 1993, a Class I or
Class II ozone depleting substance (ODS) (as such terms are defined in 40 CFR
82.104), into any product being supplied to or imported by Sensata.
The European
directive "Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)" requires that
suppliers not use specified materials in the components they do supply to us:
Substances to be
banned as per the Directive are: lead,
mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB),
polbrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
The following link
shows the highlights of the RoHS directive:

Sensata requires all
hazardous materials be properly identified as to content (chemical name),
labeled as to class of hazard (poison, oxide, etc.), and packaged to provide
for safe handling. Any material
that does not meet the above requirements will be refused.
For those
suppliers required to report material content data utilizing the IMDS
International Material Data System are to reference the applicable Supplier
